W1 AM watches are the slimmest versions of Backes & Strauss’s sporty Berkeley collection and are worn on a brushed stainless steel bracelet with polished steel links.

The one-of-one piece for WatchPro Salon will be auctioned to raise money for Joining Jack, an organisation that raises awareness and funds for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

W1 AM watches typically retail for CHF 6,500, but bids can be placed either at the Backes & Strauss booth at WatchPro Salon, which takes place from November 1 to 2, or before the show by emailing sales@backesandstrauss.com.

Joining Jack was launched in 2012 by Alex and Andy Johnson, parents of Jack – less than nine months after their son, three months short of his 4th birthday, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, an incurable muscle-wasting condition for which there is currently no cure.

For more than a decade, Joining Jack has been campaigning, fundraising, lobbying and investing in research, clinical trials and positions and improved standards of care to bring the best possible treatments with the best possible outcomes for all boys living with Duchenne.

The W1 AM watch being sold to raise money for the charity comes in a 40mm stainless steel brushed case. It has a white dial with numerals and indexes enamelled in colours of the Union Jack.

Its crown is decorated with an embedded diamond.

Backes & Strauss is among an exciting line-up of independent watchmakers from around the world that will gather in London on November 1 and 2 for this year’s WatchPro Salon.

Salon takes place in the luxury ballroom of The Londoner on Leicester Square, one of the most prestigious, designer hotels to have opened in Central London in the past five years.
