Description
The Berkeley 43 King Tourbillon marks the third generation of Backes & Strauss tourbillon timepieces. The bespoke tourbillon made for this series, which is visible from the cut away dial, is decorated by Backes & Strauss’ signature arrows motif, inspired by the Hearts & Arrows pattern visible when viewing an Ideal Cut diamond with a special loupe.
The white mother-of-pearl dial is set with 7 baguette cut sapphires which act as hour markers and 116 white Ideal Cut diamonds. From the open back case we can see the rotor of the automatic tourbillon movement engraved with the London skyline. The rest of the movement is set with 184 white Ideal Cut diamonds. The white gold case is set with 136 baguette diamonds specially polished to look spectacular in the curved and contoured case of the Berkeley.
This unique piece, once again, illustrates the Meeting of Masters, where the master diamond polisher and setter, as well as the master watchmaker, combine their passion for mathematical precision to create masterpieces both inside and out.
